Technote (troubleshooting)
Problem
The error occurred when using a variety of clients; via Web Browser, via the Connections Application within iPhone/iPad devices, and also using the Connections Plug-In for Lotus Notes,
Symptom
End Users were prevented from accessing the Connections Server
Cause
The connection error was caused by old entries in the IBM Connections Homepage database.
Environment
IBM Connections 3.0.1 with FP1 CR2 installed
All Connections Components installed
WAS Server 7.0 with FP 21 was running on AIX 6.1
DB2 on AIX 6.1 DB2 9.7 with Fixpack 6
LDAP: Novell eDirectory
16 GB RAM on AIX system running the WAS server
The Connections installation was migrated from Windows 2008 Server up to AIX.
One node for each cluster
Diagnosing the problem
The problem was reproducible on each node.

events-config.xml
IBM Connections Server Trace enabled.

Resolving the problem
To remove the old entries, first the database cleanup interval was lowered to 2 days.
Then after 3 days, the cleanup interval was increased back to the limit of 30 days again.
