Installing iFix for \Rational License Key Server 8.1.1 results in ‘File not found, telelogic.exe’ error in license logs

Problem

Attempts to install an interim fix (iFix) for IBM Rational License Key Server 8.1.1 results in the error "File not found, telelogic.exe".

Symptom

Complete error message:

8:34:59 (lmgrd) License server manager (lmgrd) startup failed:
8:34:59 (lmgrd) File not found, C:\Program
Files\Telelogic\Tools\Licensing_11\Server\telelogic.exe
8:34:59 (lmgrd) License server manager (lmgrd) startup failed:
8:34:59 (lmgrd) File not found, telelogic.exe

Cause

The license server looks for the vendor daemon telelogic to serve out the license, but with IBM Rational License Server 8.1.1 and the higher versions ibmratl is the primary vendor daemon.

Resolving The Problem

Procedure:

  1. Edit the license file with Administrative privilege

  2. Remove the line VENDOR Telelogic from the license file

  3. Save the license file

  4. Stop and start the license server
