Question
Maximo requirements regarding 32-bit and 64-bit systems
Cause
Performance slow on 32-bit systems
Answer
It is strongly recommended that Maximo implementations be installed on 64-bit hardware systems running 64-bit software including the Operating Systems and the Application Server (WebSphere or WebLogic).
Maximo does support both 32-bit and 64-bit environments. 32-bit systems will perform slower than 64-bit systems even when optimally tuned. A 32-bit environment can be used for development, functional testing, etc. environments.
It is strongly recommended that a production environment be installed on 64-bit hardware and 64-bit software. You will have performance issues if implementations are not 64-bit environments.
Therefore:
Maximo strongly recommends all production implementations on 64-bit hardware and software.
