Executing RFT script from RQM results in "DEBUG 15 Error Trace in getConnection()" error

Troubleshooting


Problem

Attempts to execute an IBM Rational Functional Tester (RFT) test script from the IBM Rational Quality Manager (RQM) web client result in the error “No suitable driver”.

Symptom

The full error message is as follows:

com.ibm.rqm.adapter.rft  DEBUG 15 Error Trace in getConnection() : No suitable driver

Cause

The sqljdbc4.jar file is stored in multiple locations.

Diagnosing The Problem

Perform a search on the system for the file sqljdbc4.jar and note the location where the files resides.

Make special note if the file resides in multiple directories.

Resolving The Problem

Procedure:

  1. Ensure the file sqljdbc4.jar exists in the following RFT SDP directory:

    C:\Program Files\IBM\SDP\jdk\jre\lib\ext

  2. Remove the file from any other directory it may exist

    For example, the file may also exist in the customization folder - remove it:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IBM\RFT\customization

  3. Restart RFT

  4. Playback the script once directly from RFT

  5. Execute the script from RQM web client
