Problem(Abstract)
Values cannot be retrieved in the same way in 10.1.1 in Report Generator and Excel link. When and why is the server preference RRGROUPCOMPCHECK = FALSE needed?
Cause
Defect/APAR PM52897 was corrected in Controller 10.1.1. The issue in this defect was that “Group perspective” did not in all cases check if the company still belonged to the mentioned group or not. The problem only existed if the report contained both periods with and without the group connection. As long as at least one period had the connection the assumption was made that all periods had that connection. This gave the effect that also unconnected periods gave values in error.
Unfortunately the most common case, i.e. without using “group perspective” stopped to work. In other word from an end user perspective more or less “everything” else stopped to work.
Resolving the problem
Impact of using RRGROUPCOMPCHECK = FALSE
Using this server preference will revert the behavior of “Group Perspective” back to how it worked prior to 10.1RP1. This also means that the defect reported in PM52897 also remain if this server preference is used.
Recommendation
Always use RRGROUPCOMPCHECK = FALSE in Controller 10.1.1 (including all IFs on this version). In any other version of Controller this Server preference should not be used.
