Attempts to perform a dictionary update in IBM Rational System Architect Encyclopedia results in Error: sadlg failed to create

Symptom

Dictionary Update failure in Rational System Architect


Cause

UseServerCursor entry missing in SA2001.ini file

Resolving the problem

To resolve this, apply the following steps:

  1. Close Rational System Architect

  2. Open SA2001.ini file in a notepad

    Note: The file location can vary for differnt operating systems. In windows 7 it is found in C:\Users\<User Login>\AppData\Local\Telelogic\System Architect. The Appdata folder by default is a hidden folder. You can unhide the same by clicking Tools > Folder Options under View tab

  3. Under the [SystemArchitect] section, add the following:

    UseServerCursor=Y

  4. Launch Rational System Architect and run Dictionary Update
