BIP2385E after enabling message flow statistics

Technote (troubleshooting)

After enabling message flow statistics in IBM Integration Bus (IIB) or WebSphere Message Broker (WMB), you receive the following BIP2385E error message:

Error updating the statistics message flow transaction container for message flow <insert_1> and node <insert_2>. The terminal <insert_3> was not found.

This error indicates that the statistics engine was unable to build an event for a node terminal that it expected to find. The most common cause for this error is that two nodes in the message flow share the same name.
If two nodes in a message flow share the name and have a different number of terminals (for example, an input node and an output node), the statistics engine cannot resolve the difference, and looks for terminals that do not exist on one of the nodes. This results in the BIP2385E error.

Resolving the problem

Rename one of the nodes so that all node names in the Message Flow are unique. This ensures that there are no ambiguities when using the statistics engine, or for other IIB or WMB features.

For more information, see: Renaming a message flow node.
