PSW 2.2.2 - "Stop Error" occurs when Windows server is under heavy traffic load

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

A stop error or "blue screen" might occur when many clients are simultaneously sending HTTP requests for small objects to an IIS server that is running IBM Security Host Protection for Windows.

Environment

Virtualization: VMware ESXi 5.0 Update 1
Virtual Machine: Windows Web Server 2008 R2 SP1 with 2 vNICs from different manufacturers
Web Service: IIS containing small HTML files (4KB or so)

Resolving the problem

If the Windows stop error is at 0X0000001D, determine if the system is a virtual machine with 2 vNICs that have different manufacturers attached running on the VMware ESXi host. If so, configure the virtual machine vNIC to the same manufacturer to avoid the stop error.
