How to resolve "The opening design file,,," error message upon opening BIRT reports in the Designer?
Answer
After copying BIRT report source code over the network, and then trying to execute reports from BIRT Designer, you may encounter "The opening design file is not a valid design file or the file does not exist." error message.
This can happen because the report source gets corrupted if it is not compressed (.zip, for example) before it is moved from one location to another.
To resolve this issue, make sure to compress the files, and only then transfer them over the network. This should eliminate the issue.
