Resolving memory allocation failure on Windows

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

You might see a 'No heap memory' or memory shortage while running TXSeries.

Symptom

The 'No heap memory available to be allocated' message appears on the region console.

Resolving the problem

The range of physical memory used up by the region in a system is directly related to number of CICS application servers running on the system.

For example, in Windows when TXSeries is started with MinServer set to 100 application servers, then the TXSeries region occupies approximately 1.5 GB of system memory (physical and virtual), as each application server takes approximately 11 MB during start-up.

You need to be aware of the total physical memory availability on TXSeries before setting MinServer and MaxServer for a region.
