CD Configuration Utility unable to extract NETMAP or USER files

Technote (troubleshooting)

Getting error "The node specified by <nodename> - <version> was not found in the registry." trying to use the CD Configuration Utility from Start>Programs.

Access is denied because CDConfig explicitly requests WRITE permission that regular users do not have by default. Administrators do have write permission, which is why the requireAdministrator setting gets you around the issue.

This has been identified as a product defect under APAR IC86986

Diagnosing the problem

The command succeed in silent mode: cdconfig /q /uc:\temp\user.cfg
still fails in GUI mode with the "node not found in registry" error.

Resolving the problem

Apply the fix from APAR IC86986
