How to remove a manually configured MAC address from a DataPower Ethernet interface

Technote (FAQ)

Question

How to remove a manually configured MAC address from a DataPower Ethernet interface so that the original MAC can be used again?

Cause

The MAC address cannot be removed from the interface via CLI or WebGUI, once it is manually set.

Answer

See the following steps to reset the interface back to the original MAC address:

Note: These steps involve modifying the autoconfig file, which is highly unadvisable unless directed by DataPower Support:

1) From the WebGUI, go to File Management and edit config://autoconfig.cfg

2) Remove the entire "mac-address" line from the desired interface stanza.

3) Click Submit, to save the changes and reboot the appliance.

4) Once the appliance is back up, the original MAC will be restored to the interface.
It can be verified by viewing 'Network Interfaces' from the WebGUI or by the 'show int mode' CLI command.

Again, please contact DataPower Support for assistance and guidance with regards to the steps provided in this technote.
