XML translation reinstated in Gentran:Server for iSeries

News

Abstract

Effective with IBM Sterling Gentran:Server for iSeries version 3.6.0.2, XML translation is now available for this product.

Content

XML translation had been available with earlier versions of the product, but had been removed for a time. In response to numerous customer requests, XML translation support has been reinstated.

Support for XML translation is delivered through a separate Java translator, and a version of the common mapper (shared by Sterling Gentran:Server for UNIX , Sterling Gentran:Server for Microsoft Windows, and Sterling B2B Integrator). This mapper is used only for XML mapping. Since XML support is delivered through additional components, there are no changes to the traditional IBM Sterling Gentran:Server for iSeries v.3.6 mapper and translation engine, so there will be no differences in the existing tools and functionality that you use today.

The XML support is available as part of the core Sterling Gentran:Server for iSeries product; there is no additional charge for XML support. All Sterling Gentran:Server for iSeries customers who are current on maintenance will have the option to download version 3.6.0.2 and implement the XML support. XML support will continue to be offered with any future versions of the product.
