Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

I am running a RECODE syntax command with an INCLUDE statement. The RECODE works in line, but when I run as an INCLUDE, the command fails. I receive the following error

Error # 4619 on line 10376 in column 1024. Text: (End of Command)
The list of existing variables on the RECODE command must be followed by the parenthesized value specifications. Some other symbol was found.

Symptom

Error 4619

Resolving the problem

When running INCLUDE, there are file specifications for syntax that must be adhered to. Please use the Help system for specifics on the file specifications. Replace the INCLUDE with INSERT -- INSERT's default is to run the file under interactive rules instead of batch.
