iNotes not working as expected with Firefox 15 and later

Flash (Alert)

Abstract

Updates made to the Firefox browser in Firefox 15 and later may result in iNotes no longer working as expected. For example, mail will not send when pressing the Send button after composing a mail message.

Content

Updates made to Firefox, starting in Firefox 15, result in iNotes no longer working as expected. Firefox has removed support for signed scripts, and several iNotes features use signed scripts. Because signed scripts no longer execute, several features in iNotes that use signed scripts no longer work.

- URLs in text are not automatically converted into hotlinks in a message when mail, calendar events, or to do's are sent or saved

- The failure of the URL conversion to complete results in the Send and Save action buttons in mail, calendar events, or to do's not working. None of these documents can be sent or saved.

- Attachments cannot be added to mail messages

Workaround
On Domino 8.5.3 and later, the use of signed scripts in Firefox by iNotes can be disabled at the server with a notes.ini setting. After this setting is applied, attachments will use the older DHTML user interface, but will work. Mail, calendar events, and to do's will send and save, but URLs will not be automatically converted into URL hotlinks. (However, many mail clients convert URLs into hotlinks when mail is received, so the absence of this conversion by iNotes may not be noticeable.)

To disable signed scripts in Firefox on a Domino 8.5.3 or later server, set "iNotes_WA_FirefoxSignedScript=0" in the notes.ini, and then restart the HTTP task for this to take effect.

To make this update, enter the following server console commands:

set config iNotes_WA_FirefoxSignedScript=0
restart task http

Note: Firefox 15 and later are only supported with iNotes running on Domino 8.5.3 For further information, see "Statement of support regarding iNotes and rapid browser updates for Firefox & Chrome" (technote #7022996).

SPR # PPET8YJQML reported and issue that arises when the iNotes signed scripts are disabled. Attempts to open an archive mail file fail, with a blank pop-up window displaying. This issue has been fixed in Domino 8.5.3 fix pack 3.
