Abstract
After upgrading the Tivoli Server Manager server to version 6.3.2, you may not be able to label or check in a tape volume if you are using a Spectralogic PYTHON library with bar code labels or library settings that do not meet the requirements.
Content
Mixed generation support has been enabled with Tivoli Storage Manager server version 6.3.2. The bar code labels must meet the bar code requirements for each media type for mixed generation support. In addition, the library must be configured to return at least 8 characters for the bar codes. See Technote 1173374 for the bar code requirements and the recommended configuration for bar code reporting.
If the library returns less than 8 characters for the bar codes or the bar code labels do not follow the bar code requirements, you may get the following error message after issuing the LABEL LIBVOLUME or CHECKIN LIBVOLUME command:
ANR8847E No DLT-type drives are currently available in library SPECTRA_LIB
If this is a new library, we recommend that you follow the bar code requirements and the recommended library configuration for bar code reporting. If you already have used volumes with names that do not meet the bar code label requirements and have encountered this problem, apply the fix for APAR IC86516.
Affected libraries:
All Spectralogic libraries with product ID "PYTHON" including Spectralogic T950.
