Question & Answer
Question
How to integrate Sterling Control Center (SCC) users in LDAP ?
Answer
IBM® Sterling Control Center has the ability to validate users via Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) accessible directories, such as OpenLDAP™, IBM® Tivoli® Directory Server, and Microsoft Active Directory™.
This “External Authentication” is accomplished by Sterling Control Center using IBM® Sterling External Authentication Server (SEAS).
To use this feature, you must upgrade to either Sterling Control Center 5.2.03 or later, or Sterling Control Center 5.3.02 or later.
Here is a short description:
1) SEAS Authentication definition
- create a SEAS profile
- add the LDAP server settings ( protocol, ip-address, port )
- check the "Specify User DN ( cn={userId}, add the ou,dc ...etc )"
2) LDAP user(s)
- create a user
- add a password
3) SCC system settings
- External Authentication Server -> IP-address/port of your SEAS server -> SEAS profile name
4) SCC user(s)
- create a user
- leave the password field blank
- choose "External Authentication=true"
