SQL query running frequently

Technote (FAQ)

Question

It seems like the monitoring continuously asks SQL servers for backup-sets.

Cause

It does that by issuing statements like the following:
select substring(convert(nvarchar(22),backup_finish_date,102),1,4),substring(convert(nvarchar(22),backup_finish_date,102),6,2), substring(convert(nvarchar(22),backup_finish_date,102),9,2) from msdb..backupset
where database_name = 'WSS_Content_Flender_StdDocuments' order by backup_set_id desc

This query is ran by the KOQDBD cursor ("Database Detail" attribute group), to obtain the "Dump Tran Date" attribute.

Answer

You need to increase the intervals for historical data collection and situations for the "Database Detail" attribute group (KOQDBD).

In addition, the KOQDBS calls KOQDBD as a pre_cursor (KOQDBS runs every 180 seconds as it is an interval-driven cursor). You can force the KOQDBS cursor to become a demand-driven cursor by going into the file C:\IBM\ITM\TMAITM6\koqcoll.ctl, search for this:
cursor KOQDBS;
interval 180;
, and modify it to:
cursor KOQDBS;
;interval 180;
demand;
