Complete uninstallation of the 6.3 Administration Center

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

Steps to complete a full uninstallation of the Administration Center.

Symptom

Installation failed, upgrade failed, or uninstallation failed.

Resolving the problem

If the Administration Center is not successfully removed by using the uninstaller program (uninstall.exe in the installation directory), or if you want to verify a clean uninstallation, use the following steps.

Note for AIX/Linux/Solaris users:
If installed as root <acsi_dir> = /usr/ibm/common/acsi
If installed as non-root <acsi_dir> = <user_home>/<user>/.acsi_<user_id>

Part 1: Run the uninstAC script and clean up your system

Step 1: Manually remote the Tivoli Integrated Portal services.

    1. Open the Windows Services Window and find the Tivoli Integrated Portal service. Right-click and select Properties. Copy the service name. Be sure not to confuse the display name with the service name.
    2. Open a DOS prompt and issue: sc delete <serviceName>
Note: depending which version(s) you have installed, you might need to delete more than one Tivoli Integrated Portal service.

Step 2: Run the uninstaller uninstAC.bat script.
    1. The script is located here: package_dir\utilities\uninstAC.bat
package_dir is the DVD or the package downloaded from the Internet

Step 3: Verify that the Tivoli Storage Manager Client Performance Monitor service and the Cognos Database service were removed.
    1. Open the Windows Services Window and search for Tivoli Storage Manager Client Performance Monitor and Cognos Database services.
    2. If they exist, right-click each one and select Properties. Copy the service name. Be sure not to confuse the display name with the service name.
    3. Open a DOS prompt and issue this command: sc delete <serviceName>

Step 4: Verify that the Administration Center components are removed from the Deployment Engine (DE).
    1. Open a DOS prompt and go to this directory:
      • C:\Program Files\IBM\Common\acsi\bin (If using a 64-bit system, use Program File: x86)
    2. Issue this command: de_lsrootiu.cmd > de_lsrootiu.txt
    3. Open this file: de_lsrootiu.txt.
    4. Verify that all the Administrator Center components are removed. Review the components in the <identityName> tags. You should not see the following components in the file:
CommonReporting, VMM, TIPCore, TCRCore, TIPTSS, TCREmbedded, TSM Admin Center, TSM Client Performance Monitor, CGIServer, TIP, eWAS, TIPTransformation, ISC, BIRT. If any of these components exist, see Part 2 to remove them.

Step 5: Delete the installation directory.
    1. Delete the installation directory. The default location is: C:\IBM\tivoli
Note: you may need to reboot or stop the Cognos service in order to successfully delete the tivoli directory.

Step 1: Run the uninstaller uninstAC.bat script.
    1. The script is located here: package_dir/utilities/uninstAC.sh
package_dir is the DVD or the package downloaded from the internet
Step 2: Verify that the Administration Center components are removed from the Deployment Engine( DE).
    1. Open a terminal and go to this directory:
      • <acsi_dir>
    2. Issue the following command: de_lsrootiu.sh > de_lsrootiu.txt
    3. Open the following file: de_lsrootiu.txt.
    4. Verify that all the Administrator Center components were removed.

Step 3: Delete the installation directory.
  1. Delete the installation directory. The default location is: /opt/IBM/tivoli/

============================================================================
Part 2: Remove the following items from the DE
============================================================================
Step 1: Download the attached file.
    1. Edit the .cmd or .sh file to replace <DE_COMMON_LOCATION> with the correct DE location:
      • AIX/Linux/Solaris: <acsi_dir>
      • Windows: C:\Program Files\IBM\Common\acsi (if using 64-bit, use Program Files: x86)
    b. Save and close the file.
Step 2: Remove components from the DE.
      1. Locate the <uuid> and <discriminant> for the component that you want to remove. This information is in the de_lsrootiu output file.
        • AIX/Linux/Solaris: <acsi_dir>/bin/de_lsrootIU.sh > de_lsrootIU.txt
        • Windows: de_lsrootiu.cmd > de_lsrootiu.txt
      2. To remove the component, run the script from a command window:
        • AIX/Linux/Solaris: ./delRootIUnRelationships.sh <uuid> <discriminant>
        • Windows: delRootIUnRelationships.cmd <uuid> <discriminant>
          • The discriminant is the path to where the component was installed
          • The <uuid> is the ID of the component that you want to remove
Step 3: Remove the client performance monitor from DE (The client performance monitor is frequently not removed from DE)
      1. Open a command window and go to the bin directory:
        • AIX/Linux/Solaris: <acsi_dir>/bin
        • Windows: C:\Program Files\IBM\Common\acsi\bin
      2. Run the listIU command:
        • AIX/Linux/Solaris: ./listIU.sh > listIU.txt
        • Windows: listIU.cmd > listIU.txt
      3. Review the file and search for this term: client performance monitor. If it exists, find the <UUID> value and issue:
        • AIX/Linux/Solaris: ./delRootIUnRelationships.sh <uuid> /opt/IBM/tivoli/tsmac
        • Windows: delRootIUnRelationships.cmd <uuid> c:\ibm\tivoli\tsmac
Step 4: Ensure that you delete the installation directory.
