ODBC Drivers withdrawn for InfoSphere Information Server, Version 8.7 Fix Pack 1

Flash (Alert)

Abstract

IBM has withdrawn the ODBC driver packages originally bundled for download with Information Server Version 8.7 Fix Pack 1, on all supported platforms.

Content

IBM has discovered that an issue exists with the ODBC driver packages originally included with Fix Pack 1 for Information Server Version 8.7. This issue may cause Information Server processes using ODBC to fail with a core dump instead of properly returning a message when an ODBC error condition occurs. The affected packages are listed here, by platform:

Platform Download package name
AIX IBMrios64-61-odbc61-120223.tar.Z
HP-IA HPia64-61-odbc61-120224.tar.Z
Linux 32-bit LINUX32-61-odbc61-120223.tar.gz
Linux 64-bt LINUX64-61-odbc61-120224.tar.gz
Solaris Solaris64-61-odbc61-120223.tar.Z
Windows WINNT32-odbc61-20120224.zip
zLinux LINUXZ-61-odbc61-120223.tar.gz

Note: If you have removed the package file, or you are not sure which drivers are installed, you can verify by examining the contents of the fixes.txt file. If the release date information near the top of this file matches the following, then you have an affected driver package.

Release 6.1.2
February 20, 2012

The default locations for the fixes.txt file are as follows:

Unix and Linux /opt/IBM/InformationServer/Server/branded_odbc/fixes.txt
Windows C:\IBM\InformationServer\ODBCDrivers\fixes.txt

From a backup directory:

The instructions for installing ODBC drivers recommend that you backup your existing drivers by renaming the branded_odbc directory. If you made this backup of the original drivers that were installed with the 8.7 GA release you can restore these drivers with the following procedure
  1. Stop all Information Server programs on this computer
  2. Remove or rename the current branded_odbc directory.
  3. Rename the backed-up directory to 'branded_odbc'
  4. Restart all Information Server programs.

Reinstall the drivers

If you did not make a backup of the original ODBC driver set, you can download them from Fix Central and then reinstall as described in the following steps:
  1. Download the ODBC 6.1 driver set using the download link for unix/linux below.
  2. Stop all Information Server Programs on this computer
  3. Extract the downloaded drivers and follow the installation instructions in the readme file.
  4. Restart all Information Server programs.
