Problem(Abstract)
Attempts to launch IBM Rational System Architect Encyclopaedia Manager (SAEM) results in the error "Failed to load control 'VSFLexString' from VSStr8.ocx."
Symptom
The full error message is as follows:
Failed to load control 'VSFLexString' from VSStr8.ocx. Your version of
VSStr8.ocx may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the
control that was provided with your application.
Cause
The VSStr8.ocx file was corrupted.
Environment
[System Architect Information]
Version:=11.4.1.252
Service pack:=0
[System Information]
OS Version=Windows XP
OS Service Pack=Service Pack 3
OS Build=2600
Resolving the problem
Manually register the following components present in C:\WINDOWS\system32.
- Actbar.ocx
- C1Query8.OCX
- vsflex8.ocx
- vsstr8.ocx
This can be done following the steps below.
- Click Start > Run type cmd
- Type cd c:\windows\system32
- Type regsvr32 Actbar.ocx and click Enter
- Repeat step 3 for all remaining ocx files.
