Personal Communications sound events are not retained when the Windows theme changes

Technote (FAQ)

Question

How do you retain IBM Personal Communications sound events when the Windows theme is changed?

Cause

Every Windows theme is associated with one sound scheme. Under a sound scheme, IBM Personal Communications sound events can be assigned some sounds. When a Windows theme is changed, the existing sound scheme is replaced with the sound scheme corresponding to the new theme. This causes the previously assigned sound events to be lost.

Answer

Whenever sound events are assigned sounds under a sound scheme, the sound scheme has to be saved. In order to ensure that the sound scheme is not lost with change in theme, select the saved sound scheme under the new theme.
