Unable to set agent log level setting to debug

Problem(Abstract)

Pop-up error occurs when setting Tivoli Storage Manager for Sharepoint agent log level setting to debug

Symptom

Pop-up shows:

An error occurred while loading virtual server.LogControl message
exception:System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'D:
\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\SharePoint\DocAve5\Agent\data\VCEnv.cfg' is
denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String
maybeFullPath) at System.IO.FileStream.Init(String path, FileMode mode,
FileAccess access, Int32 rights, Boolean useRights, FileShare share,
Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, SECURITY_ATTRIBUTES secAttrs,
String msgPath, Boolean bFromProxy) at System.IO.FileStream..ctor
(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share) at
System.Xml.XmlTextWriter..ctor(String filename, Encoding encoding) at
System.Xml.XmlDocument.Save(String filename) at Avepoint.Service.
GuiService.ProcessLogControlMessage(XmlElement xd, XmlNode xe).


Cause

The user who starts DocAve Agent Service process does not have enough permission to the agent installation path.


Resolving the problem

Following steps can be followed;


1. Whether UAC is active on the server which has DocAve agent installed.
If possible, please disable UAC and restart the server to see if it works.

2. If UAC cannot be disabled, please add full control permission for user who starts DocAve Agent Service process. Usually it is "system" group
i.e.
navigate to DocAve’s installation path, which is C:\Program Files (x86)\AvePoint by default. Right click on the DocAve folder and click Properties.

Switch to the Security tab in the pop-up and click Edit.

Check whether the Agent Account exists in the Group or user names field. If it does not exist, click Add and add the Agent Account in the pop-up and click OK to save the configuration.

Select the Agent Account in the Group or user names field and select all the Permissions in the Allow column of Permissions for … field.

3. If issue persists, add full control permission for "everyone" group (using steps in 2.)
