RHEL 5.0 automount feature does not work

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

On Red Hat Enterprise Linux Version 5, after inserting the DVD and double-clicking the desktop icon, the following message is displayed ./setup.sh: /bin/sh: bad interpreter: Permission denied

Cause

This is because the automount feature that mounts the DVD uses the option -noexec, which is not compatible with how Tivoli Workload Scheduler uses the DVD.

Resolving the problem

To solve the issue, umount the DVD, and manually remount it, using the following command :-

mount /dev/scd0 /media
