ConfigEngine wp-la-install-ear task fails on a Windows system

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem

ConfigEngine wp-la-install-ear task fails on a Windows system

Symptom

Reviewing the configTrace log, we see the following entry:

[wsadmin] WASX7017E: Exception received while running file "E:
\WAS80\wp_profile\ConfigEngine\config\work\was\curJaclScript.jacl";
exception information: com.ibm.ws.scri
pting.ScriptingException: WASX7444E: Invalid parameter value "" for
parameter "config id" on command "showAttribute"

Cause

This is a known issue on Window clustered systems where the DMGR's NodeName does not get used from the command line parameter -DNodeName.

Environment

Windows OS Cluster

Diagnosing the problem

This exception usually meant that the DMGR's nodeName was not being used.

Reviewing the ConfigTrace further, the node being picked up was not the DMGR's but the local Portal node.

Resolving the problem

To workaround this issue, please do the following:

1. Edit the wp_profile/bin/setupCmdLine.bat script.
2. Change WAS_NODE to point to the DMGR's node name.
3. Run the wp-install-la-complete script again.
4. Edit setupCmdLine.bat and undo the change.

This will be fixed in the Portal 8.0 CF002 release under PM68691.
