Extended Agent for Oracle has different values of "Free Total SGA (MB)" and "Free SGA Memory Available"

Question & Answer

Question

Why does the Extended Agent for Oracle have different values in the column "Free Total SGA (MB)" that is not equal to "Free SGA Memory Available"

Answer

They are two different concepts with the Extended Agent for Oracle and the monitoring of SGA free memory. Here is a clarification of the two attributes, this is normal behavior.

1) The "Free Total SGA (MB)" attribute in the "SGA Allocation" attribute group uses the v$sgastat Oracle performance view. This means the free memory of allocated memory in the buffer cache, shared pool, etc.

3) The "Free SGA Memory Available(MB)" attribute in the "SGA Usage" attribute group uses the v$sgainfo Oracle performance view. This means the free SGA memory which is still not allocated to buffer cache, shared pool, etc.
