DB2 ImagePlus for z/OS getting a FFFF2014 when trying to communicate with an IWPM workstation.
When trying to display an image at an IWPM workstation, IODM is getting a EKC0507 with a reason code FFFF2014.
Unable to display images at an IWPM workstation.
Unable to resolve the IP name to a IP number from the DNS resolver via CICS Socket services.
z/OS, CICS, TCP/IP
Diagnosing the problem
IODM EKCMTO log has a EKC0507A error message with a reason code of FFFF2014.
Resolving the problem
This error is caused when IODM via CICS Socket Services and TCP/IP tries to get a GetHostbyName to complete successfully. In this case it was a resolver cache issue. Resolver got a negative dns result in the cache and all future requests failed to return a valid IP number until such time as that cache entry expired and a new lookup happened. Using a TCP/IP command to clear that cache resolved the error and allowed the GetHostbyName to run correctly. Also had to reboot IWPM workstation and do the OSET command from the IODM CICS region to clear out the Vector table entry for the workstation IPAddress. We also reset the Altf flag to X and the WSINUSE flag to N. This allowed an OINT and the next display to IWPM worked fine.
