Using Rational Team Concert integration crashes Rational DOORS when Japanese Microsoft Office IME is used

Problem(Abstract)

Attempts to use the IBM Rational Team Concert (RTC) integration results in an IBM Rational DOORS client crash when Microsoft Office IME 2007 or 2010 is used as the default input language.

Symptom

Any operation which triggers Rational Team Concert integration crashes the Rational DOORS client. Examples of the operations are as below:

  • Right-click an object in a formal module and select Implementation Request > Submit
  • Open a formal module with RCR

Cause

This issue was identified as a product defect and logged under APAR PM62511.

Diagnosing the problem

Verify if Microsoft Office IME 2007 or 2010 is selected as the default input language.

  1. Right-click the IME Language Bar and select Settings.
  2. Verify Japanese (Japan) - Microsoft Office IME is selected as the Default input language under the General tab.

Resolving the problem

This defect is resolved in Rational DOORS 9.5 and later.


Upgrading the Rational DOORS client will resolve this issue.

WORKAROUND:

  1. Right-click the IME Language Bar and select Settings.
  2. Change Japanese (Japan) - Microsoft IME is selected as the Default input language under the General tab.
