Question
How can you export or backup the Sametime Unified Telephony (SUT) Phonebook and Call history in a Sametime client?
Cause
Currently, there is no way of exporting or backing up your Sametime Phonebook or call history data from the Sametime client user interface (UI).
Answer
You can use a manual procedure for export or backup of SUT Phonebook and Call history. The phonebook data is separate from the contact list (buddy list) data. You copy or backup the files contacts.xml and callhistory.xml to preserve this data.
The contacts in the phonebook are stored in an XML file called contacts.xml. The typical paths are as follows:
| Windows XP | C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Lotus\Sametime\.metadata\.plugins\com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.contact.storage (Note: By default, the application data folder is hidden; you can manually type in the path if you wish to leave the folder hidden.) |
| Windows 7 and Windows Vista | C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Lotus\Sametime\.metadata\.plugins\com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.contact.storage |
| Mac OS X or Linux | /Users/<user>/Lotus/Sametime/.metadata/.plugins/com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.contact.storage |
The call history data is in callhistory.xml, typically located as follows:
| Windows XP | C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Lotus\Sametime\.metadata\.plugins\com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.telephony.sut.callhistory (Note: By default, the application data folder is hidden; you can manually type in the path if you wish to leave the folder hidden.) |
| Windows 7 and Windows Vista | C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Lotus\Sametime\.metadata\.plugins\com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.telephony.sut.callhistory |
| Mac OS X or Linux | /Users/<user>/Lotus/Sametime/.metadata/.plugins/com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.telephony.sut.callhistory |
You should be able to replace these files on another machine at same locations to restore this data for another client.
