Question
How do I install and configure Maximo Version 7.5 to utilize Cognos Reporting Version 10.1.1?
Answer
Beginning with the Maximo Base Services 7.5.0.3 Release, an integration to IBM Cognos Reporting Version 10.1.1 is available. This integration supplements the existing Maximo Cognos Integration to Cognos Version 8.4.
With this new integration, there are now 3 different ways you can enable Maximo-Cognos Reporting in the Maximo 7.5.03 and future releases, which are:
1. Direct Integration to Cognos 8.4.1
2. Direct Integration to Cognos 10.1.1.
3. Indirect Integration thru TCR 2.1.1 to Cognos 8.4.1
*NOTE: You can enable the Maximo Cognos Integration in two different ways - either through your existing license of Cognos Reporting, or through your utilization of Tivoli Common Reporting. If you utilize your own license of Cognos, without TCR, it is referred to as a Direct Integration. If you use Cognos thru TCR, it is referred to as an Indirect, or TCR integration.
This document details the installation steps required for the integration, the synchronization of the security groups, enabling of Maximo based Object structures to be published as Cognos metadata packages, and creation of Cognos Namespaces.
As noted previously, this document is specific to the Direct Integration for Cognos 10.1.1 which is enabled starting with the Maximo 7.5.0.3 release.
