Chrome 20 + causes unexpected behaviour for Sametime Proxy Webclient

Flash (Alert)

Abstract

Chrome 20+ seems to block communication between different windows/tabs when using JavaScript window.open on existing window names, if the windows are opened manually. This leads to each window/tab requesting Sametime authentication and each listening for their own updates.

Content

Chrome 20+ seems to block communication between different windows/tabs when using JavaScript window.open on existing window names, if the windows are opened manually. This leads to each window/tab requesting Sametime authentication and each listening for their own updates.

Some unexpected behaviours can be multiple chat windows opening for incoming messages/notifications/invitations, closing one window/tab will log the user out of all the other open windows/tabs, when new windows/tabs are opened you may noticed a quick flash of a new popup window opening and closing. (ASSUMPTION: For this description each new window/tab has Sametime Proxy integrated)

NB:

Chrome is not a fully supported browser however the Sametime Proxy Team have always maintained a Best Effort policy for recent browsers.
