Abstract
(APAR IC84680) - Multiple Global Mirror feature does not work with TPC for Replication if a Metro Mirror license is not applied on the DS8000 system.
Content
After upgrading to the 4.2.2.2 release, an attempt to start multiple TPC-R Global Mirror sessions on the same DS8000 storage system with the multiple Global Mirror feature, will fail. Only one Global Mirror session will start successfully and form consistency groups. The other sessions will go into a SEVERE status indicating they were not able to start the Global Mirror processing because there are too many Master relationships on the hardware. A start that is issued to the Global Mirror session will result in the following error:
"IWNR2731E : Start failed because all source boxes already have the maximum number of Masters defined on them."
This issue is due to an incorrect check in the TPC-R code for the DS8000 feature code, and will only occur if the Metro Mirror feature code does not exist on the DS8000 storage system that is the source of the GM relationship.
To fix this issue, install 4.2.2.2 interim fix 1, 5.1.1 or contact TPC-R support for additional options.
