Problem(Abstract)

Updating patch 7.1.1.xx receiving the above error

Cause

This error comes when CIT gets corrupted and fails to run its commands

Diagnosing the problem

In the CTGInstallTrace00.log you will see the generic error and need to look at the de_trace.log on

\Program Files\IBM\Common\acsi\logs\administrator for more details

You will see the following error

Resolving the problem

1. Take a backup of the DE using following command

C:\Program Files\IBM\Common\acsi\bin\de_backupdb.cmd -bfile
<PATH_TO_BACKUP_FILE>

2. Stop the IBM ADE service

3. Zip the entire DE "C:\Program Files\IBM\Common\acsi" and keep it in
some other place.

4. Uninstall existing DE
<CD_IMAGE>\Install\MWI\DeploymentEngine\java -jar setup.jar -r -f

<CD_IMAGE> is product install image.

5. Install DE using following command
<CD_IMAGE>\Install\MWI\DeploymentEngine\java -jar setup.jar -javaHome
<PATH_TO_IBM_JRE>

6. Restore the backup
C:\Program Files\IBM\Common\acsi\bin\de_restoredb.cmd -bfile
<PATH_TO_BACKUP_FILE>

7. Run listIU.cmd command, to check if all the packages are listed properly.
C:\Program Files\IBM\Common\acsi\bin\listIU.cmd

8. Retry the installation
