Maximo BMXAA7901E - You cannot log in at this time

Troubleshooting


Problem

No users can log into Maximo, even though it has started up correctly and crontasks are running.

Symptom

Message displayed to user is BMXAA7901E, "You cannot log in at this time." This is message is deliberately vague.

The SystemOut.log file will show


[ERROR] [MXServer] BMXAA0021E - User name and password combination are not valid. Try again.
psdi.util.MXAccessException: BMXAA0021E - User name and password combination are not valid. Try again.

Resolving The Problem

Add the mxe.adminPasswd=<password> parameter into maximo.properties, following the procedures here. Note that the procedures have you copy maximo.properties_orig from <install_drive_letter>:\ibm\smp\etc into <install_drive_letter>:\ibm\smp\maximo\applications\maximo\properties, replacing the encrypted maximo.properties file. Once copied, change the values for mxe.db.password, mxe.adminPasswd, and maximo.int.dfltuserpassword to their correct values.

After that, rebuild the maximo.ear and deploy it following the procedures here.

In the same SystemOut.log, you may also see the error BMXAA4024E - The synonym value REPORT is not valid for the domain REPORTTYPES in the SystemOut.log. To fix that error, see this technote.
