Abstract
This flash alert is meant to inform you of a defect with IBM Rational ClearCase fix packs 7.1.2.7 and 8.0.0.3 which may cause a system hang after performing ClearCase file operations on Red Hat 6 x86 32-bit hosts.

Update: A fix for this issue is available. Refer to the Resolution section below for further details.
After performing ClearCase file operations the system may hang on any subsequent file operation.
Impacted environments
This issue will occur with the following configurations:

Product Version: 7.1.2.7 or 8.0.0.3
Platform: Linux x86
Platform Version: Effects Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.x, 32-bit, x86 Multi-Processor systems
Resolution (Updated Oct 3, 2012)
This issue has been resolved in ClearCase 7.1.2.8 and 8.0.0.4.
