Look up filter behavior in BS 6.x and 7.x explained in MAM WOTRACK

Question & Answer

Question

Why is the Owner selection for a work order, filtered from the look-up , based on the previously selected owner group?

Answer

To explain the behavior firstly , observe the steps to reproduce this scenario as follows:

1.) Navigate to the Maximo Work Order Tracking application and open any active work order. 2.) From the Select Action menu, select the option "Select Owner"
3.) From the opened dialogue box select the look up button for the field "Owner/Group" 4.) From the look up of "persons" and "person groups" , select any person group and select the "OK" button.
5.) Now the selected owner group value is populated in the Owner Group field. 6.) Now repeat the steps 2 & 3.
7.) The look up opens with the "persons" tab active.
8.) It can be observed that the "persons" list is filtered from the previously selected Person Group.

This is working as intended in that the initially selected Owner Group, say for example 1001 is assigned to the WO as the Owner Group.
So by design it passes that value to the Filter in the select owner dialog - to only show people who are members of the Owner group currently assigned to the Ticket / Work order

This is implemented functionality back from Maximo 6.x onwards.

The users can clear the filter in the dialog and select a person from any Owner group, just trying to make it easier this way on the initial selection.
