Technote (troubleshooting)
Problem(Abstract)
When you attempt to install the Worklight Server on the AIX operating system by using Installation Manager, the installation process fails.
Resolving the problem
Install IBM Worklight onto another Unix-based or Windows platform first and then transfer the contents to your target AIX host.
- For an installation together with WebSphere Application Server, Liberty profile
- Transfer from UNIX-based operating systems
- Copy the server from INSTALLDIR/server/wlp to the AIX machine. If the wlp/bin/server.bin file exists, rename it as wlp/bin/server, thereby erasing the platform specific wlp/bin/server program.
- Copy the databases from /opt/ibm/Worklight/derby to the AIX machine.
- Copy the server from INSTALLDIR/server/wlp to the AIX machine. If the wlp/bin/server.bin file exists, rename it as wlp/bin/server, thereby erasing the platform specific wlp/bin/server program.
- Transfer from Windows operating systems
- Copy the server files from the INSTALLDIR\server\wlp directory.
- Copy the servers data to the AIX machine.
- On the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, copy the C:\ProgramData\IBM\Worklight\WAS85liberty-server\wlp directory to the AIX machine.
- On the Microsoft Windows XP operating system, copy the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IBM\Worklight\WAS85liberty-server\wlp directory.
- On the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, copy the C:\ProgramData\IBM\Worklight\WAS85liberty-server\wlp directory to the AIX machine.
- Merge the two wlp directories. The bin and lib subdirectories and so on come from the first step. The usr subdirectory comes from the second step.
- Remove the wlp/etc/server.env file from the copy on the AIX machine.
- Make all files in the wlp/bin/* directory executable using the following command:
chmod a+x wlp/bin/*
- Copy the databases to the AIX machine.
- On the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, copy the databases from the C:\ProgramData\IBM\Worklight\derby directory.
- On the Microsoft Windows XP operating system, copy the databases from the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IBM\Worklight\derby directory.
- On the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, copy the databases from the C:\ProgramData\IBM\Worklight\derby directory.
- Copy the server files from the INSTALLDIR\server\wlp directory.
- Configuration
- Adjust the directory names to the databases in the in wlp/usr/servers/worklightServer/server.xml file.
- Adjust the permissions (chown, chgrp, chmod commands) if you want a multi-user installation.
- Adjust the directory names to the databases in the in wlp/usr/servers/worklightServer/server.xml file.
- Transfer from UNIX-based operating systems
- For an installation with a pre-existing web application server
- Copy the contents of the installation directory to the AIX machine.
- Proceed as described in the "Administration Guide" document for IBM Worklight and IBM Mobile Foundation. You can find the Administration Guide in the product documentation.
- Copy the contents of the installation directory to the AIX machine.
