Technote (troubleshooting)
Problem(Abstract)
When you use IBM Installation Manager and attempt to install the product on the Solaris operating system, you see a custom panel with a text field that says "Group name:" When you enter a valid group name such as root or adm, the user interface displays an "Invalid group name" error and the Next button is disabled. You cannot proceed with the installation.
Cause
You cannot install the product on the Solaris operating system because the installer cannot access any operating system group names, even valid ones such as 'root'.
Resolving the problem
Install on another UNIX-based or Windows operating system first and then transfer the contents.
- For an installation together with WebSphere Application Server, Liberty profile
- Transfer from UNIX-based operating systems
- Copy the server from INSTALLDIR/server/wlp to the Solaris machine. If the wlp/bin/server.bin file exists, rename it as wlp/bin/server, thereby erasing the platform specific wlp/bin/server program.
- Copy the databases from the /opt/ibm/Worklight/derby directory to the Solaris machine.
- Copy the server from INSTALLDIR/server/wlp to the Solaris machine. If the wlp/bin/server.bin file exists, rename it as wlp/bin/server, thereby erasing the platform specific wlp/bin/server program.
- Transfer from Windows
- Copy the server files from the INSTALLDIR\server\wlp directory to the Solaris machine.
- Copy the servers data to the Solaris machine.
- On the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, you can find the servers data in the C:\ProgramData\IBM\Worklight\WAS85liberty-server\wlp directory.
- On the Microsoft Windows XP operating system, you can find the servers data in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IBM\Worklight\WAS85liberty-server\wlp directory.
- On the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, you can find the servers data in the C:\ProgramData\IBM\Worklight\WAS85liberty-server\wlp directory.
- Merge the two wlp directories. The bin, lib subdirectories and so on come from the first step and the usr subdirectory comes from the second step.
- Remove the wlp/etc/server.env file from the copy on the Solaris machine.
- Make all files in wlp/bin/* directory executable using the following command:
chmod a+x wlp/bin/*
- Copy the databases to the Solaris machine.
- On the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, you can find the databases in the C:\ProgramData\IBM\Worklight\derby directory.
- On the Windows XP operating system, you can find the databases in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IBM\Worklight\derby directory.
- On the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, you can find the databases in the C:\ProgramData\IBM\Worklight\derby directory.
- Copy the server files from the INSTALLDIR\server\wlp directory to the Solaris machine.
- Configuration
In the wlp/usr/servers/worklightServer/server.xml file adjust the directory names to the databases. If you want a multi-user installation, adjust the permissions (chown, chgrp, chmod commands).
- Transfer from UNIX-based operating systems
- For an installation with a pre-existing web application server
- Copy the contents of the installation directory to the Solaris machine.
- Proceed as described in the Administration Guide document for IBM Worklight and IBM Mobile Foundation. You can find the Administration Guide in the product documentation.
Note: This problem is resolved starting IBM Worklight V5.0.0.1. - Copy the contents of the installation directory to the Solaris machine.
