Documents exporting to SharePoint overwritten with IBM Datacap FastDoc Capture

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

When multiple FastDoc Capture stations export to the same SharePoint library, documents from one station may intermittently replace documents from another station, rather than being added as a separate document.

Cause

FastDoc Capture uses the first part of the batch name as part of the document name. However, the default batch naming scheme can cause this part of the batch name to be identical on different FastDoc stations. When a document with is uploaded to SharePoint with a name that already exists, SharePoint may consider it a replacement for the existing document, rather than a separate document.

Resolving the problem

Change the batch naming scheme so that the first part of the batch name is unique for each station.

  1. Navigate to \Datacap\BatchExplorer and edit the batchProfiles.xml file using Notepad.
  2. Locate the option namepattern, and change the line to the following:
    <namepattern folders="[c][Y][m][d][h][mm].[n3]" pages="tm[n6]" docs="[BID2].[doc#2]" />
  3. Save the file.
  4. Copy or edit the file for each FastDoc station.
