Technote (FAQ)
Question
Can tasks created by replenishment/pick process be consolidated
Answer
SUMMARY (Assumption: Tasks have same source and destination location, same items):
1) No consolidation happens for replenishment tasks of shipments which are not a part of the same wave
2) No consolidation happens for pick tasks from different shipments (irrespective of whether they are waved together or separately)
3) Single step replenishment/pick tasks may be consolidated if there is a single shipment with multiple lines of same item
Sample scenarios and the consolidation behavior
Note : Single step means the tasks are not configured to be executed in multiple steps in the task configuration
1) Single step order pick for 1 shipment, with 2 shipment lines
2 tasks will be created, 1 for each of the shipment lines.
During task execution on RF/mobile device, user will see the consolidated quantity of both the tasks displayed in the Quantity field.
2) Single step order pick for 2 shipments, both waved in 2 separate waves
No consolidation happens for pick tasks of shipments which are not a part of the same wave.
3) Single step replenishment for 1 shipment with 2 shipment lines
1 consolidated task will be created for the consolidated quantity of the both shipment lines.
4) Single step replenishment for 2 shipments waved in 2 separate waves
No consolidation happens for replenishment tasks of shipments which are not a part of the same wave.
5) Multi step order pick for 1 shipment with 2 shipment lines
In both situations a)moving inventory from source location to staging location b) from staging to destination location, 2 tasks will be created.
During task execution on RF/mobile device the consolidated quantity of the two tasks will be displayed.
6) Multi step replenishment for 1 shipment with 2 shipment lines
In both situations a)moving inventory from source location to staging location b) from staging to destination location, 1 task will be created (for each a) and b) with the consolidated quantity.
7) Consolidation for multi step replenishment of 2 shipments waved separately
No consolidation happens for pick tasks of shipments which are not a part of the same wave.
8) Consolidation for multi step pick of 2 shipments waved separately
No consolidation happens for pick tasks of shipments which are not a part of the same wave.
9) Multi step Pick and replenishment for 2 shipments waved together
SCENARIO :
1) BulkLoc1 Quantity 10 of I1 item
2) BulkLoc2 Quantity 20 of I1 item
3) Pick Location empty
4)Create 2 shipments S1 for quantity 10 of I1 and S2 for quantity 20 of I1
5) Configure 2 steps replenishment and 2 step pick tasks
5) Put both the shipments in the same wave
Results :
Replenishment from Bulk to Staging location : Replenishment not consolidated, 2 tasks created
Replenishment from Bulk to Staging location(putaway task) : Replenishment not consolidated, 2 tasks created
Pick from Forward pick to Staging : Pick quantity not consolidated, 2 tasks created (even deposit separately)
Pick from Staging to Destination location(putaway task) : Pick not consolidated, 2 tasks created
10) Single step Pick and Replenishment
Scenario
1) BulkLoc1 Quantity 30 of I1 item
2) Pick Location empty
4)Create 2 shipments S1 for quantity 10 of I1 and S2 for quantity 20 of I1
5) Configure 1 replenishment and 1 step pick task
5) Put both the shipments in the same wave
Results :
Replenishment from Bulk to Forward pick location : Consolidated, 1 task created (10 + 20)
Pick from Forward pick to Destination: Pick quantity not consolidated, 2 tasks created (even deposit separately)
