Creating a new defect in HP Quality Center results in error: Parameter Type is Invalid

Creating a new defect in HP Quality Center in IBM Security AppScan Standard results in error "Parameter Type is Invalid"


The steps to reproduce the problem:

  1. Select a security issue in AppScan Standard.

  2. Right-click on the security issue and select from the menu Add Defect to Quality Center.

  3. In the pop up dialog Log in to Quality Center put the credentials and click Login.

  4. Correct the fields in the pop up Defect Detail form and click on Add Defect.

  5. An error dialog box AppScan Defect Logger pops up with message:

    Could not connect to HP Quality Center.
    - Verify the Address follows the format: "http://<yourserver>:<port>/qcbin/"
    - Using a Web browser, log in into Quality Center to make sure the client components are installed on your computer.
    Parameter Type is invalid

The following error message is in GuiLog.log file.

Resolving the problem

The workaround, as provided in HP Quality Center knowledge base under document ID KM1340144:

    Add the following parameter in the Site Admin:

  1. The same applies to HP ALM (Application Lifecycle Management).
  2. The solution requires the suggested parameter on the HP QC server (or ALM server) with the value of Y (otherwise the error message persists).
  3. The same applies for submitting defects to HP QC/ALM from AppScan Source for Analysis.
