Preventive Service Planning
Abstract
Effective starting in a release of IBM Rational ClearCase and IBM Rational ClearQuest scheduled for the second quarter of 2013 (2Q13), the aforementioned products will no longer support certain operating system versions, product components and integration solutions.
Please note that this statement only pertains to the NEXT major version of these products. Platform support in earlier releases is not affected by this statement.
It is the intent of IBM Rational to provide 6 months advance notice on all platform discontinued support for the purpose of platform migration planning.
Content
Support for these items will be discontinued for the aforementioned Rational products to which the technology is applicable (unless otherwise stated).
Refer to the system requirements documents published for each of these products for further support details:
ClearCase System Requirements
ClearQuest System Requirements
ClearCase and ClearQuest platform support aims to align as closely as possible with vendor support dates. That support may vary from this strategy due to critical customer needs for building and deploying their own applications, limited adoption within the marketplace, or for other reasons.
Regarding client user interfaces; ClearQuest is focused on providing first-class support for the browser based ClearQuest Web user interface, and a rich client for ClearQuest Designer. ClearCase is focused on providing a unified GUI interface through ClearTeam Explorer, and command line interfaces through cleartool and rcleartool. Older interfaces may not be enhanced to support new product features, and may over time be deprecated and removed from support. It is our intent that such deprecation will only occur in a major release, and with at least 6 months advance notice, and in some cases only when newer interfaces achieve sufficient parity with older interfaces to justify the deprecation.
When an issue is caused by a version of an operating system, filer, IDE or other technology that is no longer supported by the vendor on the date of release of any major version of ClearCase or ClearQuest, IBM Rational may ask customers to upgrade the version of the operating system, filer, IDE or other technology to resolve the issue.
