Extended Agent and Oracle Diagnostics Pack license

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

Grant and access to four data dictionary views beginning with the prefix "DBA_HIST_" (along with their underlying tables) require an additional license for Oracle Diagnostic Pack.

Symptom

If the Oracle user does not have the above license, then the RZ agent will not be able to
execute the following 4 lines from krzgrant.sql

GRANT SELECT ON DBA_HIST_SQL_PLAN TO TIVOLI;

GRANT SELECT ON DBA_HIST_SQLSTAT TO TIVOLI;

GRANT SELECT ON DBA_HIST_SQLTEXT TO TIVOLI;

GRANT SELECT ON DBA_HIST_SYSMETRIC_SUMMARY TO TIVOLI;

Resolving the problem

The only exception are the views: DBA_HIST_SNAPSHOT, DBA_HIST_DATABASE_INSTANCE, DBA_HIST_SNAP_ERROR, DBA_HIST_SEG_STAT, DBA_HIST_SEG_STAT_OBJ, and DBA_HIST_UNDOSTAT. They can be used without the Oracle Diagnostics Pack license.

Anyway, you can safely comment out the 4 GRANT statements above, in case you do not need to monitor their attribute groups. Following is the mapping list from Oracle view to Agent attribute groups. Comment out the view will only disable the related attribute group monitoring and will not impact to other attribute groups.

Oracle Views <--------------> Agent Attribute Groups

DBA_HIST_SQL_PLAN             RDB_DBA_HIST_SQL_PLAN

DBA_HIST_SQLSTAT              RDB_Top_SQL

DBA_HIST_SQLTEXT              RDB_DBA_HIST_SQLTEXT

DBA_HIST_SYSMETRIC_SUMMARY    RDB_Dba_Hist_SysMetric_Summary
