Problem(Abstract)
Attemps to install IBM System Architect XT(SAXT) with Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) version 7 or later, the installation fails and results in the error "Windows Package Manager: Operation failed with 0x8007000B An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format".
Symptom
This error occurs while attempting to install SAXT:
Windows Package Manager: Operation failed with 0x8007000B
An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
Cause
SAXT requires Microsoft Active Service Pages(ASP) related features and roles for IIS to be installed.
Environment
IIS version 7 and later. Microsoft Windows version 2008, Microsoft Windows version 2008 R2 and Microsoft Windows version 7.
Diagnosing the problem
Check the installed ASP related services and roles using the IIS Manager.
Resolving the problem
Microsoft Windows 7
There is currently no solution for Microsoft Windows 7 because SAXT is not supported on Microsoft Windows 7. This is documented in IBM Rational System Architect System Requirements.
Windows Server version 2008 / Windows Server version 2008 R2
Before you install SAXT, for IIS version 7 (and later), install the required features, roles and authentication as follows:
- Navigate from the Windows Start button to
Server Managerfor example:
All programs - Administrative Tools - Server Manager
- Select
Roles
- Click
Add Roles
- Press the
Next
- Select
Web Server (IIS), click so a tick appears in the check box for it
- Press the
Nextbutton until you reach theSelect Role Serviceswindow
- Scroll to the
Application Developmentnode
- Select the feature
ASP.NET, click so a tick appears in the check box for it
- Press the
Add Required Role Servicesbutton when prompted
- Select the features
ISAPI ExtensionsandISAPI Filters, click so a tick appears in the check box for it
- Expand the
Securitynode
- Select both the features
Basic Authentication] and [Windows Authentication], click so a tick appears in the check box for them Press the [Nextbutton to bring you to theConfirm Installation Optionswindow
- Verify the features that you have selected are in the list presented
- Press the
Installbutton and wait for the installation to complete
- Look at the status report presented & see that the status is
Installation Succeeded
- Press the
Closebutton
