If you do not enter a valid customer number or VTAM password correctly, VTAM cannot be initialized and the following message is issued:
IST001I VTAM START REJECTED - INVALID CUSTNO OR VTAMPW
Resolving the problem
This message indicates that password validation found an error. Possible reasons for the message can be any of the following causes:
- Incorrect customer number specified on the CUSTNO operand
- Incorrect VTAM password specified on the VTAMPW operand
- The VTAMPW operand specified before the CUSTNO operand
- The CUSTNO and VTAMPW operands not specified before any other START operand, including LIST
