How to set priority for summary

Technote (FAQ)

Question

How do you set priority for summary in IBM Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager for Wireless?

Cause

There are 3 Technology pack installed on the TNPMW system, and normally there are late data arrival for Ericsson, hence customer would like to start the Ericsson summary later than the 2 other Technology pack Nokia and Huawei Technology pack.

Answer

It is possible to prioritize the execution order of summaries to ensure the most important summaries can be processed first when scheduled jobs are run.

The default priority is 99, this is the lowest priority. The highest priority is 1. The command to set the summary priority is:

summary_admin -set -n <name> -t priority -v <priority_value>
-n Specify the <name> of the Summary to prioritize
-v Priority value, 1-99

Examples:
summary_admin -set -n VNL_CELL_TCH -t priority -v 1
Sets the priority of the VNL_CELL_TCH to 1, which is the lowest priority.

Where a number of summaries have the same priority they are executed according to the summary type, simple before complex, and then by summary name sorted in ascending order.

For example, if a number of summaries have the same priority, then the simple summaries are executed first, followed by the complex summaries. Within the simple and complex summaries, summaries are executed according to summary name in ascending order. For example, summary SummaryA is executed before summaryB.
