Additional Information

Regarding SPR# SVRO8TAU7N and SPR# SVRO8T9VCR

Installing 8.5.3 Fix Pack 1 using Windows System account on a pre-existing Notes installation, fails to install two platform plugins (Provisioning and Security Update Policy Engine). If installed on a brand new installation of 8.5.3 + Fix Pack 1 and not an upgrade with an existing data\workspace\ directory, this issue does not occur.

Certain plugins will not install on the Notes Standard client when installing under SYSTEM account with 8.5.3 Fix Pack 1 on an existing Windows client installation. Many automated deployment packages such as SCCM (formerly SMS), install under SYSTEM account so these types of installations would be impacted by this defect.

The two missing plugins mean that these two are not updated. The net result is an updated IBM certificate which is not installed that could cause the following issues:

• Installing a 2012 IBM signed plugin to the client will prompt if you want to install, since the security certificate is not included in 8.5.3 Fix Pack 1
• IBM SmartCloud Notes customers authenticating with SAML, will not be able to authenticate with the Connections server

Additionally, this fix will also be included: SPR# SVRO8T9VCR. If a parent feature is not found, then a feature patch will not be applied. This fix does not have any direct impact in 8.5.3 Fix Pack 1, but is included as an additional fix in this same code area.

Regarding SPR# PACY8M6HN6

Technote #1596479 - Unintentional deletions possible if using a Location document to switch to another mail file and synchronize contacts

If the Synchronize Contacts feature is in use in IBM Lotus Notes 8.x, then a user who uses a Location document to switch to another mail file can unintentionally replicate deletions to that other mail file if they have Editor with delete documents access. Conversely, any delete operations in that other mail file will also propagate when switching locations back to their own mail file. This problem is fixed in Interim Fix 1 8.5.3 Fix Pack 1 and 8.5.3 Fix Pack 2.

Regarding SPR# HSAO8T9DZR
In Domino 8.5.3 Fix Pack 1, a problem was introduced where NSD could hang while terminating. This problem was introduced by SPR# NBRR8LNQMH on Windows (Client and Server) and UNIX platform in 8.5.3 Fix Pack 1. This issue is a race condition and the chances of encountering this problem vary from system to system and from platform to platform. The symptoms, risk, and solutions for this problem are outlined technote #1592901. This issue is fixed in Interim Fix 1 for 8.5.3 Fix Pack 1 and 8.5.3 Fix Pack 2.
