IBM Support

ODBC driver 64 bit asks for userid/passwd

Troubleshooting

Problem

You have a problem in the export database wizard when trying to export to a Microsoft Excel ODBC Data Source. It asks for a login ID and password. You have office package 32 bit installed on the 64 bit machine. You're using the IBM SPSS Statistics 64 bit version and Windows 7 Professional (64 bit).

Cause

A 64-bit application (e.g. IBM SPSS Statistics 64-bit) cannot use a 32-bit ODBC driver (e.g. Microsoft Office 32-bit Access or Excel ODBC driver).

Environment

Windows 64 bit

Resolving The Problem

When you installed the Microsoft Office 32 bit version and the IBM SPSS Statistics 64 bit version you created an incompatible situation. One solution will be to install and use the Microsoft Office 64 bit ODBC drivers.

The 64-bit ODBC drivers can be downloaded from following link :
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13255

(Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable)

Alternatively, you could uninstall the IBM SPSS Statistics 64-bit application and install the 32-bit version instead. However this approach defeats the purpose of deploying to a 64-bit Windows environment in the first place.
