Messaging engine not available in new cluster node application server

Troubleshooting

Problem

After following the procedures to expand an existing Websphere 6/7/8 cluster for Identity Manager, the messaging engine for the application server on the new node is unavailable.

Symptom

Identity manager not operational on new node. Presence of message "HMGR0045W: The
server list for policy itim_bus_<new node><new appServer>_policy
is empty. This policy requires at least one server."

Cause

Incomplete federation of cluster.

Environment

Websphere 7/8 cluster

Diagnosing The Problem

Presence of HMGR0045W warning message.

Resolving The Problem

Using the Websphere Administration Console:

1. Navigate to Servers > Core Groups > DefaultCoreGroup > Policies

2. Click the policy name of the new appserver node in the cluster. The format of the name is
ITIM_BUS_<nodename><appserver name>_policy.

3. Click 'Static group servers' link.

4. Under 'Core Group Servers' click on the new <nodename>/<appserver name>.

5. Click the 'Add' button to move that server to list of Static group servers.

6. Click the 'OK' button and save the configuration.

7. Restart the cluster.
