How does Classic Federation obtain CA-Datacom table information

Technote (FAQ)

Question

How Infoshpere Classic Federation obtain CA-Datacom table information?

Answer

During CREATE TABLE time, Classic Federation uses the TABLENAME in the DDL to identify the Datacom table. Classic then references this table in the Dictionary Service Facility (DSF) provided by Datacom to validate the table against the Datacom definition of the table -- this is where the element names are obtained. .

Additional information is available in the following CA-Datacom documentation:

CA-Datacom Datadictionary User Guide - describes the tables, elements and fields as they can be added to the dictionary

CA-Datacom Datadictionary DSF Programmer Guide - describes the public Dictionary Service Facility used by Classic Federation
